As for me, I fell in love with brass decks already in 2017, for my trusty Spyderco Paramilitary 2.

I've always really liked this knife for its perfect ergonomics, reliability and build quality. But its G10 plates, although functional and durable, were only moderately suitable for me and were not up to par for me. So I opted for the FLYTANIUM plates (click on the variations to see the possible choices).

Overall, the assembly was very simple, only the rear spacer with the hole for the lanyard was not very cooperative to disengage from the original G10 plates. For the rest of the assembly, nothing special. Once the new FLYTANIUM plates are mounted, the first surprise is the weight!

Indeed, the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 goes from 110gr with its original G10 pads, to 200gr with the brass pads ! At the beginning it's a bit confusing to have so much weight in such a small volume, but it's actually quite pleasant, as long as the lightness is not essential.

The second thing you notice right away is the comfort in hand. The plates are perfectly machined and the edges rounded, which contrasts with the right-angled edges of the original plates. Very pleasant, therefore.

Another positive point: the fact of having a noble material and which is naturally anti-bacterial (as far as brass is concerned) is to be noted in this period!

After all, carbon fiber, brass, copper or titanium pads are something else than compressed plastic, even if they are more resistant and less expensive. And finally, the feeling of having a more exclusive knife than the original one also contributes to the pleasure of using it every day.

It is interesting to note that the brass and copper have a patina with time, bringing an additional touch of "vintage", which I like!
