Overview of Spyderco Yojimbo 2
Released at the end of 2011, the Spyderco Yojimbo 2 was designed by renowned personal defense trainer Michael Janich. The Yojimbo 2 is an evolution of the original Spyderco Yojimbo design, introducing the Wharncliffe blade.
A little anecdote: This type of blade is called a Wharncliffe and takes its name from the British Lord Wharncliffe, who was the patron of the Joseph Rodgers & Sons cutlery company in Sheffield in the early 1800's. He wanted a pocket knife with a strong blade, exceptional cutting ability and a fine point, so he commissioned the first “Wharncliffe” knife around 1832.
The Warncliffe blade's smooth cutting edge and fine penetration point make it ideal for self-defense situations.
The hollow cutting edge provides increased cutting capacity by transferring power to the tip, and ensures greater tip strength.
Textured G-10 inserts provide a secure, ergonomic grip. The back of the handle features a recessed bulge that allows the hand to settle completely.
The finger choil on the handle allows one or two fingers to be placed there to lock the grip, making it adaptable to different hand sizes. Individual preferences are catered for with a 4-position clip.
It also features Spyderco's Compression Lock system, which guarantees smooth, secure opening and closing.
With the larger Yojumbo and more compact MicroJimbo models, you can choose a knife to suit your needs and hand size.
In short, the Spyderco Yojimbo 2 is a superior quality knife, a true natural extension of the hand designed to meet the needs of security and personal defense professionals. Its elegant design, sharp blade and robust construction make it an ideal choice for those seeking a reliable, high-performance tool.
Beware, however, as the Compression Lock system can be difficult to tackle for left-handers who would like to handle the knife with one hand.
The training version, with its many holes in the blade, is only a few grams heavier than the cutting version, guaranteeing a safe and reliable training tool.
