Buying from Tellknives means 100% compliance with Swiss law
As a Swiss company, we know our business and our laws, so it's only natural that we make a commitment to our customers to deliver safe and fully compliant items for purchase without applying for a permit.
Duty to inform
As a Swiss cutlery company, Tellknives is committed to informing its customers of items that require a permit (PAE, Procédure d'Autorisation d'Exercice) to be sold on Swiss territory.
The Federal Law on Arms (LArm) governs the acquisition, introduction into Switzerland, export, storage, possession, carrying, transport, brokering, manufacture and trade of arms on Swiss territory. The broad scope of this law applies to cutlery items that we do not sell on our shop.
In fact, Tellknives does not sell any knives considered to be weapons within the meaning of the LArm and requiring authorization.
Knives considered to be weapons include the following:
- fixed knives with symmetrical blades between 5 and 30 cm. This does not apply to folding knives with symmetrical blades.
- all butterfly knives.
- all automatic knives, except those with a blade of less than 5cm and a total open length of less than 12cm.
Follow this link to the Fedpol explanatory brochure "Les armes en Bref" (Weapons in a nutshell) for further information on the subject. In case of doubt, only the opinion of the Bureau des Armes or Fedpol will be taken into account.
Tellknives offers you the guarantee of a purchase 100% compliant with Swiss law.
This is what makes us unique in the cutlery world.
We are also regularly called upon to carry out expert appraisals for collections, and to determine which pieces are subject to a request for authorization (PAE). We also inform our customers about the procedures to be followed with the Bureau des Armes to declare pieces considered as weapons in the context of inheritances or collection takeovers.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that ordering knives from other websites (in Switzerland and abroad) does not necessarily offer you the guarantee of conformity and exposes you to criminal sanctions.
We remain at your disposal for further information by email [email protected] or phone +41 22 344 11 10.
