For some years now, Wildsteer's main fields of activity have been the design of hunting knives, military and tactical knives and also bushcraft knives (survival type) for any outdoor use

The Wildsteer company, like most of the high end cutlery factories, is a small family business that has been able to establish itself in the international cutlery industry.

Knives for the field

The production is 100% French, which is so rare nowadays. It is a real pride for a knife maker to announce a national manufacture at the present time. It is also a commitment that he takes not to compress production costs to the detriment of quality, a guarantee of a certain ethics and a requirement of the brand. The knives are therefore manufactured between Thiers and St-Etienne. The aim in each design is to combine proven know-how with a constant search for innovation.

The strategy of the brand at the beginning was to answer in a functional way to each request, thus, the proposed knives had a very specific function. With the expansion of its market, Wildsteer now offers many multipurpose blades but remains the great specialist in outdoor and tactical knives. Like any knife maker who has made these areas his specialty, Wildsteer focuses its development mainly on the following three priorities: ergonomics, balance and aesthetics. Each knife is tested in the field several times to evaluate the range of possibilities offered by the different types of blades.

All blades are forged, cut, tempered, ground and polished in Thiers. The assembly of the folding blades is done in Saint-Etienne.

Concerning the sharpening of the knives, the "Wildsteer" test, well known for its requirement in the field of cutlery, consists in cutting a mountaineer's rope without effort... we confirm from our experience that the knives arrive very well sharpened!

As far as steels are concerned, several alternatives are offered by Wildsteer. There is no doubt that you will be spoilt for choice:

First of all the stainless steel X50CrMoV13 (for the 100% made in France products), Sandvik, 12C27, 14C28, X46Cr13, XC90 and XC75. These steels have different carbon contents, which make them suitable for different uses
