With the Emmet, LionSteel is launching a new, particularly compact EDC folding knife in 2026, built around one of the Italian manufacturer’s iconic technologies: the SOLID® Knife. Despite its small size and feather-light weight, the Emmet features a true monoblock construction, machined from a single block of aluminium.

This first version, the EM01A BS, combines a black aluminium handle with a Hammertone finish and a Stonewash blade made from CPM MagnaCut. The result is a small, modern EDC knife measuring just 17.1 cm when open and weighing 65 gr, designed to slip easily into a pocket without compromising on the quality of the materials or the robustness of its construction.

The 7.2 cm blade is made from CPM MagnaCut, a modern steel particularly prized for its balance between edge retention, toughness and excellent corrosion resistance. LionSteel has paired this with a V-Flat grind and a Stonewash finish, a particularly fitting combination for a knife intended to be carried and used on a daily basis.

The handle, however, is one of the Emmet’s most interesting features. Thanks to SOLID® technology, LionSteel machines its structure from a single solid piece of aluminium rather than assembling two traditional plates. This design results in a knife that is rigid, sleek and extremely lightweight. The Hammertone finish, meanwhile, gives the aluminium surface a distinctive textured appearance and clearly sets this new range apart from the brand’s other EDC models.

The knife is secured by a Frame Lock, the contact area of which features a hardened steel insert to minimise wear. The blade operates on a ceramic ball-bearing system, designed to ensure particularly smooth and precise opening and closing.

LionSteel has also fitted the Emmet with the REF – Removable Flipper system. The flipper can thus be removed using a T6 Torx screwdriver and then replaced with the dedicated screw supplied with the knife. The user can therefore choose between using the flipper to facilitate opening or opting for a sleeker profile once it has been removed.

A reversible steel clip completes the package and allows the knife to be carried in a way that suits the owner’s preferences. The design is the work of Molletta, a long-standing collaborator of LionSteel and the creator of several of the brand’s best-known models.

Tellknives Review

We find the LionSteel Emmet particularly well-positioned in the premium small EDC category. Weighing just 65 gr and featuring a 7.2 cm blade, it is an extremely easy knife to carry, but LionSteel does not compromise on build quality despite its compact size: MagnaCut, SOLID® construction, ceramic bearings and a Frame Lock with a steel insert are all present and correct.

The Hammertone finish is also an excellent idea. It gives the aluminium handle real character whilst retaining the industrial and functional look one would expect from a modern EDC. Finally, the REF system allows you to choose between two usage philosophies without having to buy a different version of the knife.

For a model entirely made in Italy, fitted with CPM MagnaCut steel and offered in this price range, we believe the Emmet offers a particularly compelling balance of build quality, materials and originality.
