The locking mechanism is the real highlight of this knife. Designed by Michael Walker, the Blade Lock incorporates its control directly into the thumb stud and secures the blade in both the open and closed positions.

To deploy or retract the blade, the user presses the thumb stud whilst guiding the blade forwards or backwards. This unusual operation quickly becomes intuitive and allows the knife to be controlled with just one hand. The IKBS ball-bearing pivot contributes to the smoothness of the movement.

The 7.4 cm blade is made from 14C28N stainless steel. Its modified Sheepsfoot profile, similar to a Wharncliffe, offers a particularly effective cutting edge for general-purpose tasks and precise cuts. The satin finish complements the mechanical and deliberately understated character of this 4200 version.

Textured brown and black G10 scales cover the stainless steel frame of the handle. This robust construction explains the relatively substantial weight of 116 gr, but also provides a welcome sense of solidity for a knife of this size. The deep clip allows for discreet carrying in the tip-up position on the right-hand side.

Tellknives review:
The Walker Blade Lock is not a conventional folding knife to which CRKT has simply added a different mechanism. Its entire identity rests on the way the blade is released, guided and then locked. This mechanism gives it real mechanical appeal and immediately sets it apart from the multitude of knives fitted with a Liner Lock or a Crossbar Lock.

Michael Walker is one of the most influential designers in modern cutlery, and this reissue offers access to one of his most original systems at a still reasonable price. The knife takes a little getting used to and feels quite heavy for its size, but it is precisely these characteristics that give it its character. A compelling choice for enthusiasts of unusual mechanisms as well as collectors of designer pieces.
