The Spyderco Para 3 C223MPCW EDC folding knife features the “CruCarta” combination—first introduced on the Para Military 2—in a more compact format: a CPM Cru-Wear blade and brown canvas Micarta scales. This combination gives the Para 3 a warm, inviting look while maintaining its utilitarian purpose.
The satin-finished blade features a full-length flat grind and a smooth cutting edge. Manual opening is achieved via Spyderco’s signature thumb hole. The handle is mounted on full, open-backed stainless steel liners, which also form the basis of the Compression Lock mechanism.
The unpolished Micarta scales gradually develop a patina with handling and use. A wide lanyard hole and a polished, four-position metal clip round out the design.

Tellknives Review:
We appreciate this version for the way the Micarta handle ages over time: the handle gradually takes on a look unique to its user. The Para 3’s size is well-suited for everyday use, while the combination with Cru-Wear will appeal to enthusiasts of knives built for practical use. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a compact Spyderco with a more traditional design.
