COLD STEEL Knife - Master Tanto Emperor Collection - Collection knife
It is thanks to the Boss of Cold Steel, Lynn Thompson, that the Tanto became popular in the West.
In the 1980's, Cold Steel began to offer several versions of the Tanto, which were then produced in Seki and boasted exceptional quality.
The success was immediate, and the international distribution as well.
However, the high prices (totally justified considering the quality of the blades) limited the number of knives in circulation.
Thereafter, the overall quality decreased and, although the production remained Japanese, the rarity and prestige were no longer there.
These very first pieces are therefore very sought after, especially when the condition is top.
This edition had 3 pieces (Magnum Tanto XII, Master Tanto and Mini Tanto) sold together, with a black lacquered bamboo stand.
This Master Tanto is identical in every way to the classic San Mai III except for the back of the blade, which instead of being flat is beveled.
