VINTAGE & COLLECTOR
AL MAR KNIVES 3009 Special Forces
The 3009 Special Forces fixed combat and survival knife comes in several versions, including two commemorative ones in honour of Colonel James ROWE, a soldier who survived captivity during the Vietnam War by escaping.
Years later, he founded the SERE School, and was a close friend of Al Mar.
Technically:
Produced in Japan in the 90s
Total length 33cm
AUS-6A stainless steel blade, 20cm long and 6mm thick.
Unsharpened counter-edge.
Polished stainless steel guard
Black micarta handle with stainless steel rivets
Lanyard hole
Markings missing; the markings have been milled off (...) by someone who has lost common sense.
Original black Cordura leather sheath with snap closure, velcro accessory pouch and belt loop.
Condition of the knife 5/10: the knife has been used and both the blade and the handle are scratched. The markings have been milled off in an unprofessional manner.
Sheath condition 9/10: the sheath is in good condition, just a little faded from its 40 years, but it fares better than the knife.
Rarity index 8/10
Brand new condition 1000/1200
Supplied in a black nylon case with zip fastening.
Our verdict: A superb piece from Al Mar in average condition.
Perhaps not very desirable from a collector's point of view, it becomes very interesting from a use point of view!
