COLD STEEL RECON TANTO
It was Cold Steel founder Lynn Thompson who brought the Tanto to the West.
In the '80s, Cold Steel began offering several versions of the Tanto, then produced in Seki, Japan, and boasting exceptional quality.
Success was immediate, as was international distribution.
However, the high prices (totally justified given the quality of the blades) restricted the number of knives in circulation.
Subsequently, overall quality declined and, although production remained Japanese, rarity and prestige were no longer present.
These very early pieces are therefore highly sought-after, especially when in top condition.
This is a Recon Tanto, the matte gray blade version of the famous Master Tanto.
Even rarer, this model exudes a tactical edge thanks to its anti-reflective coating and equally matte brass, just gorgeous.
