70's Viintage collector's knife
RANDALL MADE KNIVES
Vintage 70ies Model 1-8 forged carbon steel stacked leather brown leather sheath with stone
A legendary American brand created in 1938 (!) by Bo Randall, who was probably one of the most influential knifemakers of all time:
- many of his models have been used in every war since WWII, and the more historic the models, the higher their value!
- NASA equipped astronauts with one of its models, developed precisely to these specifications (model 17 ASTRO), and in 1961 it was used by the crew of the Mercury 7 mission, becoming the first knife in orbit.
- there are 28 models in the catalogue, all of which can be customised
- the waiting time for an order is currently ... 6 years! The price of excellence!
- As the list of distinctions and special features is still long, here is a link for those who are more curious:

The 'Model 1' is possibly THE iconic Randall model
The best-known is the 1-7 (7 for 7 inches, of course), but the 1 also comes in 5-, 6- and 8-inch blades!
And even a Mini!
The stacked leather handle is part of the ultra-classic package.
Technical specifications:
20cm carbon steel blade (the Randall 'S' is for Stainless, carbon steels simply don't have the 'S')
Total length 33.5cm
Through tang construction, bolted to pommel
5mm thickness
Sharpened counter edge
Double brass guard
Typical Randall tricolour liners
Handle in stacked and polished leather roundels
Duralumin pommel with lanyard hole
Leather case with belt loop and whetstone
Supplied in a black nylon sheath with zip fastening
Condition of the knife: never used, with a few small spots of oxidation and a magnificent patina
Condition of the sheath: splendid!
Our Opinion:
Randall is a must-have in any collection; this Model 1-8 Vintage in stacked leather is the ULTRA classic from the RANDALL MADE KNIVES brand but in an 8-inch version, making it a little rarer (and more desirable?) than the illustrious Model 1-7 ... !
Although large, this knife is still extremely versatile, and the ideal size for all types of use.
The quality of RANDALL's workmanship makes it a superb addition to any collection, militaria or otherwise.
