With his “Swamp Thing,” Ukrainian craftsman Sergey Shidlovskiy has created a fixed-blade knife whose materials and colors evoke a plant-inspired world. The moss green, golden hues, and dark veins of the handle echo the undulating patterns of the Damascus steel. An expressive creation that maintains a clean, understated design and dimensions that are easy to appreciate: an 11.0 cm blade and a total length of 23.0 cm.
The blade combines a core of Japanese VG-10 steel with sides made of stainless Damascus steel. The patterns alternate between sinuous lines and small circles, with a wavy border that highlights the cutting edge. The fine tip and gradually rounded belly create a knife well-suited for precise cutting tasks, whether on a hunting trip or during outdoor activities.
The handle is carved from a block of stabilized and stained Karelian birch. On this particular knife, the grain displays two complementary patterns: elongated lines on one side and a more knotty pattern on the other. The curves of the wood extend to a nickel silver bolster, accented with thin green spacers. This transition, without a protruding guard, preserves the fluidity of the design.
The dark brown leather sheath is handmade, with green stitching that matches the handle. It features a belt loop and a button closure. A light green lanyard, finished with a decorative metal bead, completes the set.

Tellknives Review:
We particularly love the cohesive design of this Swamp Thing. The wood, the spacers, and the sheath’s stitching all share the same color palette, while the Damascus steel adds another level of detail. The result is eye-catching without needing a complicated silhouette—the materials do all the work.
Its compact size and rounded handle enhance its appeal as both a utility knife and a collector’s item. A beautiful example of Sergey’s craftsmanship, which infuses a minimalist fixed-blade knife with a wealth of personality.
