Stripped back to the essentials, the LionSteel Emmet EM01 FL is the most understated model in the Emmet Titanium range. No inserts or contrasting materials: LionSteel has opted here for a monoblock titanium handle, machined from a solid block using SOLID® technology, paired with a Stonewash blade made from CPM MagnaCut.
This visual simplicity really brings out the knife’s construction. The SOLID® process involves milling the handle structure from a single piece of titanium, rather than assembling the two sides of a traditional frame. The result is a rigid, precise, one-piece construction that is particularly characteristic of LionSteel’s craftsmanship in Maniago.
Despite this premium construction, the Emmet remains a true compact EDC. It measures just 17.1 cm when open, features a 7.2 cm blade and has a claimed weight of only 65 gr. This weight-to-size ratio allows it to be carried daily without compromising on high-end materials.
The blade is made from CPM MagnaCut, a particularly versatile steel that combines excellent corrosion resistance, good toughness and high edge retention. Its stonewash finish complements the titanium perfectly and also has the practical advantage of withstanding the minor scuffs associated with everyday use. LionSteel has opted for a V-flat grind, in keeping with the cutting purpose of a compact EDC.
The mechanism features a Frame Lock reinforced with a hardened steel insert. This insert prevents the titanium lockbar from bearing directly against the blade heel, thereby contributing to the longevity of the locking mechanism. Opening and closing are facilitated by ceramic ball bearings, ensuring smooth and precise operation.
Another distinctive feature of the Emmet is the REF – Removable Flipper system, which allows the flipper to be removed using a Torx T6 tool. LionSteel supplies a dedicated screw to replace it neatly: the owner can therefore retain the flipper configuration or opt for the much more minimalist profile, which suits this all-titanium version particularly well.
Designed by Molletta, fitted with a reversible steel clip and entirely manufactured in Italy, the EM01 FL is ultimately the most understated interpretation of the premium Emmet: no decorative flourishes, just titanium, MagnaCut and high-end mechanics in a knife weighing 65 gr.
Tellknives’ review
We really appreciate the consistency of this Flat Titanium version. Whilst the Bronze and Grey carbon variants focus more on visual impact, the EM01 FL lets the material and SOLID® construction speak for themselves.
It’s also a design that should age particularly well. Titanium and Stonewash make an ideal combination for an EDC intended to be genuinely carried and used, whilst the MagnaCut, ceramic bearings and reinforced Frame Lock give it some very impressive technical credentials.
Finally, we find its positioning within the range particularly appealing: you get the essence of the Emmet Titanium version for €20 less than the models with carbon inserts. For users who prioritise simplicity over decoration, this might even be our top choice among the three Emmet Titanium models.
