The EM01 GY version draws on a combination of materials that is particularly classic in premium cutlery, but integrates it into the Emmet’s highly distinctive design: grey titanium, a carbon fibre insert and CPM MagnaCut, all in an EDC measuring just 17.1 cm when open and weighing 65 gr. LionSteel positions it at the top of the Emmet range, alongside the Bronze variant.

The handle is crafted using LionSteel’s proprietary SOLID® technology. Its structure is milled from a single solid block of titanium rather than being built around two assembled plates. This monobloc design results in a particularly rigid and sleek unit, whilst retaining the compact size sought after for the Emmet.

In this Grey variant, LionSteel has incorporated carbon fibre into the titanium. The contrast is deliberately subtle: unlike the more showy Bronze version, the EM01 GY favours a cool, technical aesthetic, with the carbon fibre adding just the right amount of texture to the handle’s surface.

The 7.2 cm blade is made from CPM MagnaCut and features a stonewash finish. The steel is particularly well-suited to a premium EDC thanks to its excellent balance between corrosion resistance, toughness and edge retention. The V-Flat grind, meanwhile, maintains a geometry geared towards everyday cutting efficiency.

The mechanism features a Frame Lock, with the lockbar reinforced by a hardened steel insert. Opening and closing are facilitated by ceramic ball bearings, a solution that ensures smoothness and precision in this small Italian folding knife.

The Emmet also retains its ingenious REF – Removable Flipper system. A Torx T6 tool allows the flipper to be removed and replaced with the dedicated screw supplied in the box. Depending on their preferences, the owner can therefore opt to keep the flipper opening or prefer a cleaner, more minimalist look. A reversible steel clip completes the kit.

Designed by Molletta and entirely manufactured in Maniago, the EM01 GY is ultimately the more understated of the two titanium/carbon Emmet models: a small, premium EDC that focuses more on the quality of the materials and machining than on ostentatious aesthetics.

Tellknives Review

Of the two titanium/carbon versions, the Grey will probably be the easiest choice for anyone looking, above all, for an elegant and discreet premium EDC. The combination of grey titanium, carbon fibre and Stonewash is timeless and should also age very well.

The model’s main appeal lies in what LionSteel has managed to pack into 65 gr: a SOLID® monobloc titanium frame, a carbon fibre insert, CPM MagnaCut steel, ceramic bearings, a reinforced Frame Lock and a removable flipper.

If we had to choose between the three Emmet Titanium models, we’d recommend the FL for the purist who favours understated design and value for money, the BR for those seeking more character, and this GY as the most balanced and universally appealing option.
