This massive Cold Steel Voyager XL Vaquero folding knife belongs to the older generation made with American Carpenter CTS-BD1 steel, whose markings are clearly visible on the blade. We are offering this knife in mint condition, complete with its illustrated Cold Steel box.
Its large, smooth blade features the characteristic Vaquero silhouette: an inward curve followed by a generous belly and a sharply raised tip. The stonewash finish gives it a matte gray appearance that contrasts with the cutting edge and the black markings.
The handle features a pronounced geometric texture and several finger grooves. Its length allows for various grip positions, while its curved end enhances control. The Griv-Ex is reinforced with internal 6061 aluminum plates.
The knife opens entirely by hand using a thumb stud. The Tri-Ad Lock mechanism completes this imposing design, featuring a black metal clip and a lanyard hole at the end of the handle.

Tellknives Review:
We appreciate this generation for its significance in the evolution of Cold Steel’s large folding knives. It retains the Tri-Ad Lock construction while bearing the CTS-BD1 marking, which predates the current AUS-10A versions.
The smooth blade also deserves attention: it fully reveals the Vaquero’s wavy pattern and offers a particularly sleek presentation of this model. Its XL size remains spectacular, whether open or closed.
Its like-new condition and the inclusion of the box are its main assets for a collection. We favor a moderate valuation, taking into account the older configuration without attributing exceptional rarity to it. Note that the smooth-blade versions are both the rarest and, naturally, the most sought-after.
