Straight knife from the Collection, Sam Lurquin Tsavo Fighter combat knife with a satin-finished, forged 80CrV2 carbon steel blade, curly maple wood handle and black leather sheath with crocodile skin inlay.
Sam Lurquin is a highly talented Belgian knife-maker, whose visual signatures are always very distinctive. His various ranges (notably Tsavo, Fighter and Onca) are endlessly varied according to his inspiration, and the result is impressive!
Here we have a Tsavo Fighter, which is both large yet light for its size, thanks to full-tang construction, which significantly reduces the weight of the blade (and therefore its inertia) despite a spine thickness of 5mm!
Technical specifications of the Sam Lurquin Tsavo Fighter:
Partial tang construction in forged 80CrV2 carbon steel
Blade finish: drawn to length
Blade thickness: 5mm
Blade length: 19 cm
Total knife length: 33 cm
Brushed stainless steel guard
Handle made from a single block of curly maple
Knife weight: 267g
Black leather sheath with crocodile insert, crafted by 8ball kustom leather (artisan leatherworker Jérémy Guillaume)
Knife condition: 9.5/10 – the knife has never been used, only handled. The condition is considered excellent but is not absolutely perfect.
Condition of the sheath: 9.5/10 – similarly, the sheath has probably never been carried outdoors, but it has been handled and the knife has been inserted and removed. The condition is considered excellent but is not perfect.
Our opinion:
Here is a superb piece of modern cutlery, crafted by Sam Lurquin, a master cutler whose reputation is solid and on the rise. This large Tsavo Fighter is very beautiful, very well made, and its sheath is equally spectacular!
