RANDALL MADE KNIVES

Fixed-blade hunting knife, straight-blade EDC Randall Made Knives 1970s Model 8-4, forged stainless steel, sambar stag handle, brass guard, brown leather sheath.

A legendary American brand founded in 1938 (!) by Bo Randall, who was arguably one of the most influential cutlers of all time.

The ‘Model 8-4 Trout and Bird Knife’ is one of the smallest knives in the brand’s catalogue; it is, of course, designed as an EDC knife but is also suitable for hunting small game (as its name clearly suggests) and for use in the woods. The Model 8 - 4 is only available with a 4-inch blade, or 10.2 cm.
If that’s too small for you, then take a look at the Randall 5, which features the same blade shape but is available in 5, 6, 7 and even 8-inch sizes!

This classic design, however, boasts two rare features: firstly, the antler on the handle is from a Sambar deer, an Asian species whose antlers are yellower in colour and which the Randall brand occasionally used in the 1970s and 1980s! And secondly, this knife is over four decades old and is in fantastic condition!

Our verdict:
Objectively speaking, this Randall Made Knives Model 8-4 Trout and Bird hunting and EDC knife is very attractive in this classic configuration; the visual effect is unique thanks to its Sambar deer antler handle and its aged patina.
This knife is highly practical thanks to its compact size, and is just as suitable for preparing a meal as it is for a walk in the woods or taking it out on a hunt.

A true EDC that will appeal to anyone looking for a compact and versatile fixed-blade knife. And the knife itself is extremely classy and quite simply magnificent – let’s not mince our words.

The quality of craftsmanship from RANDALL makes it a superb addition to any collection.
